We have a bunch of different thread icons to denote the following:

New posts No new posts Announcement
New posts [ Popular ] No new posts [ Popular ] Sticky
New posts [ Locked ] No new posts [ Locked ]

Why not an icon with a small black period in the middle or something to denote that you've posted in a topic already?

Invision Power Board has this feature and I really miss it here.

Along the same lines, I'd like to see the original topic start date, not just the date of the last post to it.

That's not what I meant. Those are obvious clues, but inconsistent. If you're not the latest or original poster to a topic, you only know if you posted in that topic if you search for your own posts (which is a pain in the ass), and/or if you open each topic up individually.

I'm talking about a system like the following, where A is the current icon of a thread in which I've posted but am not the latest/original poster, and B is the icon I'd like to see there instead in such a situation.

I agree with thug, that'd be good. For threads that you post in and then when the poster comes back with more information you know to look at that your participating in that thread.

What I miss from Ikonboard-

Watch this forum for replies - this was very handy & would make my day if we could have a hack like this. There are certain forums I would like to know when someone posts a new topic, say HH, Free Clinic

Thinking some more about this - I'd like a better way to search for users from the memberlist. What would help would be to show 200 users on one page, that would be the easiest hack to add. At Ikonboard we had search by letter also.

Ummm, wouldn't checking the "Notify me when a reply is posted" do the same job?

Not necessarily. Hack #2 allowed me to subscribe to individual forums, as I said all of hardware, all of free clinic. Also hack 1, it is easier to go into your user control panel, subscribed posts, then follow links from there if you want to check on them. Once I dump my trash, I have no way of knowing the threads I'm subscribed to unless I view my user profile, which is tedious, since there are multiple replies of each topic.
