I didn't know whether this should go in the Free Clinic or in this folder. That feature is working on the other forums I visit, so it must be this forum.

I type in my username & password & mark the check box to Log me on automatically each visit. I browse the forum & reply to some threads. When I'm done, I just browse to another website or just close my browser all together.

I recieved my e-mail notifications of threads I'm monitoring. I click on the link & it bring me to log on page. It has happen several times.

Does this have anything to do with the outage the other day?

My system specs are:
Abit IC7-G
Intel P4 / 3.0C
512MB DDR pc3200
36GB WD Raptor (system)
200GB WD Caviar (storage)
Windows XP Pro SP2
MS Internet Explorer 6.0 SP2
I ran Ad-aware & AVG - so system is clean

If it helps, on the bottom of the forum, it says Powered by phpBB 2001,2005 phpBb group

1) Open your browser, go to the login page, then close your browser.

2) Go to the directory where your cookies are stored. Sort by last accessed. Delete the two maximumpc.com cookies.

3) Re-log in and check the automatically log me in. That should fix it.

Loby, this has been happening to me for a few months now. It gets so bad that I can't log in at all, sometimes clearing the cookies doesn't work. Usually what I've started doing is cleaning the temp files out also. I've found out this happens after a few things on my end- my computer hasn't been rebooted for a week, my browser hasn't been closed for almost as long, not necessarily with MPC pages open either. I am notorious for coming here at 4am and viewing email replies in seperate tabs, I then get up & walk away without replying; leaving the various topics open. Some days this sets off the log in problem.

Six, any chance we can get a hack for the main page to click this link to clear cookies? Ikonboard gives that feature, it is a lot easier than sifting.

For some I can't sleep tonight & I happen to be on my pc.

I should also mention, that I used to bring up the MPC forums by accessing it through my favorites.

After clearing the cookies & temporary internet files. I typed in my browser http://www.maximumpc.com - clicked on the link for message boards & once I was on - I added that page to my favorites.

Give that a try, if not I hope Number Six can help. Good Luck. I'm going back to bed.

Pain woke me up at 3:45. Once I'm up, that's it :(

Usually I come here via email link, sometimes via the shortcut. I've found that I have to delete the old shortcut also & make a new after the cookie problems.

I wonder if it's due to board upgrades?

I have no idea why it happens. But so far it's happened various times to me on Mobile PC Mag, PC Gamer and here. There doesn't seem to be an obvious reason for it yet.

Well Guys:

I know I think I have been trying to one here for 3 days. I got a new computer on Friday and I had tried to login today and reregistered because I could not login In even thoughI had loggedin I could not do anything.

Just the fun of it I checked the always login check mark and loggedin and it actually work.

So I have 3 usernames on here because I could not get loged in without putting a check in the always loggin. slot.

I will try to use the one on eaach brower I have.

I did not mean to sign up three times without knowing what I was doing wrong.

I know for me it works using always logged in mark but maybe some work with out checking it.

I do not know but I am glad I got firefox to take my ID and password and be able to log in.

I hope this might help someone to login and not have to have 3 idea.

Bye the way if a moderater reads this it woud be ok if I will keep two ID and delete one . I might need one for backup.

David

Well guys:

I loggin again under my other Id. I have to check the automatic loggin button to get logged and some can not get on using the automatic loggin button .

Boy that is real wierd and confusing.

It has to be either the login button or all of our computers.

I will try my 3rd ID and see if it works on it.

David
