Anyone know what the hell this means:

Quote:
Warning: mysql_connect(): Can't create TCP/IP socket (55) in /home/service/sites/maximumpc.com/website/forum/db/mysql4.php on line 48

Warning: mysql_error(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/service/sites/maximumpc.com/website/forum/db/mysql4.php on line 330

Warning: mysql_errno(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/service/sites/maximumpc.com/website/forum/db/mysql4.php on line 331
phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database

I'm assuming it means there's a banned loser trying to get revenge for being an asshole and getting banned.

Actually, I think it's because a lot of the Future Network mag sites are hosted on the same servers and Mobile PC has a top 100 gadgets of all time story on slashdot today.

[Ch]ams mentioned on PCGamer (also affected) that they're being upgraded to phpBB 2.0.11 any day now, so I assumed some maintenance and/or hacks were being applied throughout the day on both forums?

It says at the bottom of the page "phpBB 2.0.11", so it looks like that's already been done.

Yes it is complete here, but not at PCGamer.

I demand financial compensation for the emotional trauma and mental anguish afflicted upon myself by this forum's inability to mainain a stable connection for an hours time.

I will accept cheques, money orders and hard cash in American currency.

Well, I for one was having that kind of a day when the outages hit. Talk about pissed! I had just finished typing out a book in responce to a "heated discussion" we're having at PCGamer about Bandwidth Theft. I say heated, cause that's what one of the guys is calling it- altho I don't think it was heated till I posted my "book"- lol

*sniff* I don't ever want to have to go through that again.

lol, I did the same damn thing! Although, mine would only be considered a chapter compared to your book. ;) Still, I typed out the post and when it wouldn't submit, I copied it to my clipboard for later use, only to forget and end up copying a hyperlink later in the day. Oops.

I remembered most of what I wrote and reposted, but it's frustrating when you have to consciously try and recall the nuances that were included in the lost first draft.

I had a beauty of a rant all banged out, hit submit, the page vanishes and I get this mysql() thing. Nuts.

No point trying to recreate the rant, most of the fun of those is the spur of the moment element. :(

Yeah, it was pretty lengthy. I almost didn't post it, even reread it and was going to change a few lines, but figured no, I'm just going to submit. I have to get back over there and respond to his. So, you were going to teach me something?

Some of my best work was in the MaxPC Clan back on delphiforums after it had been abandoned.

Unfortunately they recently closed and deleted the forum. Wish I could have gotten a few screenshots.
