At the bottom of the Maximum PC homepage, usually, is a navigation mechanic for looking through older articles that were posted on the homepage. Usually, when I and others visit using at least IE8, the navigation is not in place. It works in Firefox but not in IE.

Sometimes it's there, usually, it isn't.

As far as I can tell, there has never been any formal affirmation or response to this problem by anyone managing the site.

Ok, thanks. I was just wondering to see if it's not just your issue. At the moment, the navigation buttons show up in IE8 for me.

On my last 3 visits paging doesn't work with IE8 or Chrome, either one anymore.

Does anyone at MaxPC care?

These problems also carry over into IE9! It looks like it's more of a coding issue than anything and it needs to be fixed now! I cannot look at any of the older articles.

And, sadly, today, after it working for so long, it stopped working in both IE8 and Chrome (that's all I've tested).

Heavy sigh.

Really, which page? They all seem fine in IE8.

What do you mean "which page?" The front page. The articles start there, go down the page, and there is no option to see older articles.

Still borked today.

When I checked that day in IE8, the old look it was fine. Hopefully it won't occur with the new redesign, nor have I seen it in FF/IE8 as of yet.

Problem still exists post-redesign. However, it's present in Chrome...

Correction. It wasn't there in IE8 when the AVADirect article was the top article. Now that the Nokia: One out of Five Cell Phones are Fake article has posted, it's there in IE8. I only checked with Chrome after the Nokia article.

I would tend to believe that it gets messed up when they post some articles but not others. *Shrug*

There are now two more articles. That top one is about Cheezburger network. And, now, the navigation at the bottom of the homepage is missing again.

*Laugh*

So, it's either the one doing the updating, the article contents themselves, or a problem in an automated article posting procedure.

*Shrug*

I intended to post eveytime there was an issue but I got frustrated with the number of times the site was broken.
The pagination at the bottom of the main page is broken often and there are still articles that break in IE.

The most recent broken article is Motherboard Mano-a-Mano: We Review Three LGA1155 Boards!.

Awhile back I wrote to the Max PC Editor George Jones and he said they were aware of the problems and were trying to fix them. The problems still exist. After the recent redesign I took a look at some of the other websites for Future US magazines and they had the same redesign. It would appear that Future US has a web team that does the work on all of their magazine websites. My guess is that Max PC asks them to fix the problems, but for whatever reason the problems never get fixed.

They are using the Drupal content management system for the Future US sites. They probably can't understand or are unable to put the time into figuring out why their content is breaking Drupal. It's also possible that it is a Drupal bug and they are just not willing to put the work into switching to a different CMS or build their own.

I subsribe to the magazine but I read more on the website to be honest. It really sucks coming here to read an article and then run into these problems. I really wanted to read Gordon's LGA 1155 article.

I noticed the problem with that article myself - and when I saw the problem, I blew off reading it entirely.

Alex Castle is/was listed as the online editor or something like that. That's whom I've e-mailed in the past. I've never received a reply. Very tempted to call into the podcast... but page nav has been working well for some time now. I'm almost over it. =)

It's Baaaaaaaaack.

IE9, FF, Chrome, no ability to navigate to older articles as has been present at the bottom of the page in the past.
