Other possible reasons:

- Buyer's remorse
- Doesn't overclock as far as desired
- Found a better deal/bundle elsewhere and took advantage of it
- Unexpected life events

I'm guessing that it didn't overclock as high as somebody hoped it would. You can find that VC new cheaper than that price though.
BFG 6800 GT OC
May be able to get it locally

refurbed doesnt always mean bad. they do test the product to see if it works before they resell it. i generally dont buy refurb but i know people who do and dont have problems.

Do you have a link for that? I ask because when I bought my refurbed 9800 Pro AIW, it was faulty right from the POST screen on into Windows. Hard to imagine that it could have slipped by anyone's QA testing.
