I feel bad and stupid for asking this question here... but....

forgive me...

here I go:

I want to get a regional cell phone plan. And I put in my area code and wat not. Now, if i leave the city I am in I will be considered to be out of my region and have to pay roaming charges? Or only if like I leave the state will I have to pay roaming charges? THanks guys... thanks a lot

Hmmm,
Hiya
Its not a stupid question - Its just that Maximum PC probably isn't the best place to get the answer...

"Most" regional plans will include either "Just Your State" or if you are near a state line - it will include part of your state and part of the surrounding state(s).

The best way to check is with your carrier.. Each carrier lists their regional plans on thier websites as well as what constitutes roaming and what doesn't...

I'm listing the top websites below - but one note: I had AT&T wireless - a regional plan... My Regional Plan coverage area was light green... BUT every call placed outside of the "orange" home calling areas was considered roaming - even if it WAS in the regional area.. just FYI...

Verizon
T-Mobile
AT&T
Nextel
Cingular
Alltel
Arch Wireless
Cellular One

Best of luck with figuring out an answer :)

If you have any computer related questions in the future - the Free Clinic is the place for it :) For questions about buying computers or computer hardware options - this forum is the place :)

Depends on who you go with. My AT&T plan has zero roaming, and zero long distance. In fact, there are two phones on my plan. One with a local number, and one with a number that is local in a central state, for my long distance monkey friends. Its something you basically need to ask to guy/girl across the counter depending on what you are willing to pay.

Normally your local plan will be one color on your map, then your regional calling area will include the local plan, but will be a different color, say green, and will also spread more of the state or other states, and then the national plan will include the above two, but will be another different color, say blue.

Now if you were able to hang on to all I just said there  , I am meaning that if you get the reginal plan, you can go anywhere in the green "reginal" area of your plan map and not be charged any roaming fee's. Call outside of the regional calling area and yes you will be charged a roaming fee.
