While Im waiting on my 6800GT to arrive  :D , I am using my old 64MB 8500dv. Just being curious about how the thing performs, I ran Aquamark 3 on it and it scored higher than my 256MB GeForce 5600! (I scored around 13,000 with my 5600 overclocked, and 17,410 with my 8500dv overclocked.) Stunned, I ran Far Cry using the old beast and sure enough, I could turn on more detail settings than I could with my 5600, too.
Whats with that? How is that possible? Why is my 64MB card faster than my 256MB card with higher clock speeds? Does the 8500 have more pipelines?

I also have an 8500DV, and am pleasantly surprised with it's performance.

BTW, how're those upgrades going?

Pretty good, thanks.

Do you know how many pipelines the 5600 has?

imo, the 5600 is a pretty crappy card. i would even recommend a geforce4 (ti series) over the 5600.

I know that now, and I wish I didnt have to learn the hard way. I used to have a GeForce 4 Ti4600 right after it came out... great card in its day (no 9700 pro, but still good).
