Best Buy posted a pretty good deal, title says it all. Not a bad price, considering they're throwing in two games....comes out to being right around the same price as picking up a 9800 Pro and buying each game individually.

LINK

EDIT:
Fixed link, explained below.

Hey .. this is funny ... I clicked on your link, and got sent to a Best Buy page informing me that I don't have cookies enabled on my system.

It is funny, because I *do* have cookies enabled on my system.

Stupid Best Buy.

You know what's funnier? When rechecking the link after you brought that up, it says the same thing for me!

I've edited it using Techbargain's link redirect - they should be happy, they'll get credit for the jumps it's creating.

I had a few coupons and got this card. I previously returned a FX 5700LE because it would restart my computer, but this one has a better cooling hs.

I run the 3Dmard03 and got 2324 points, is that about right for this card?

I have a p4 2.4, is that the cause? I compared with another guy who had a p4 2.6 and got 8433 with the same type of card, I don't know if its overcloacked or what.

that score is extremely low for a card of that stature.

you should scoring at least 8000+. make sure you are not running the program with AA(anti-aliasing) and AF(anisotrophic-filtering) on. also make sure you're not running it at high resolutions

Running it at 1024x768 32bits color. I was checking my mobo specs and it only support AGP 4x, so I don't know if that is holding it back. I have an old p4 Willamente I think, I don't know but it's the first generation of p4's

I got Domm 3 installed, but it's extremly slow on the main screen!!!! That's ridiculous (note that it is spelled correctly), I can't even start a game because my moves moves once every minute!!!

if you're running a stock p4 @ 2.4ghz, then you're probably running a northwood core. the willamette's highest stock speeds are 2ghz.

i think its the card itself. you may have a damaged card, or a defective one. but before we jump to conclusions, what resolutions are you running doom at? also, are the graphic details cranked up to the max?

I can't pass the main screen, my mouse just moves around and the CPU is at 100%, I have to kill it, because it looks very slooooow. I set my desktop to be 800x600 at 32 and 75mhx refresh rate, with same results.

This has most likely been tried a million times, but wouldn't it be possible to buy the card then return it a week later keeping the free copy of Doom3?
I'm sure Best Buy won't make it that easy, but there are no rebates involved in the offer and I see nothing in the fine print about returns.

Excuse me for getting off/on topic  .

I wish they would include these games with BFG's 6800 GT OC card. If that were the case, I'd pick one up today.

The card is listed as $299 and Doom3 at $54.99. Once you put Doom3 in the cart, it shows up as $0.00. Not that I'm in any way advocating trying to do this, but I wonder how they would handle a return on the card.

I bought it on the store, so the discount is shown in the VC price. I don't know, but i don't think they are that stupid.

from the Sunday ads, this is a mail-in-rebate. it's not the same case if you shopped online? MIR would require the UPC code, which i doubt if removed, you can still return the product.

Would this be a significant upgrade from my 9700 Pro?

If it is I may jump on this deal. I still don't have Far Cry or Doom3 and this could kill quite a few birds at once.

Can anyone take a guess as to the OC ability on this card?

currently, the RivaTuner programmer is working on unlocking the 4 disabled pipelines on the 6800. as for overclocking, i hear it's pretty good. athlon11 was able to oc his a bit with stock cooling.

me? i haven't tried oc'ing. i'm gonna wait for the RivaTuner release.

It's not a Mail-In-Rebate online. I went through the checkout process to test it, but didn't order it. The card gets put in at $299 and Doom3 rings up as $0. I chose the local pickup option and after tax, my total came to $317.94 (Michigan, 6%).

I wondered the same thing and looked up some reviews online. I can't remember what search string I used, as it was kind of difficult to filter out the GT and Ultras (even using -GT -Ultra), but I ended up finding a review over at [H]ardOCP. Can't really say how it compares to a 9700 Pro. I would imagine that it doesn't blow it out of the water, but for $299 with two games, and assuming you sell/EBay your 9700 Pro, it's a nifty upgrade price to stay current. As for the OC, they got it stable at 404/802.

BFG Review

also in stores you get the disscount right away, no mail in rebate. You get a discount in the VC, but you stil pay full retail price on Doom 3
