I just got my new computer from dell and was running a system check on it to make sure I got everything I ordered. The first thing I noticed was my motherboard supports dual processor's. No biggie, then I noticed it said I have 2 Pent. 4 3.0. I only ordered one but is there anyway of knowing if this is true without opening the box?

Sincerely
ElvisG

If you got one of the hyperthreaded models, the device manager lists two processors.

i wondered the same thing when i built my pc and i know it is a single processor but the p4 with hyperthreading reports in many system testing programs that it is 2 processors. My dad just bought a new dell with the p43.2ghz and it reports the same thing i know it is only single because I opened it up to transfer data from his old hard drive to his new pc

Also opening it will not hurt anything as long as you don’t touch but the way dell does it you wont be able to see the area of the processor because of the fan guard

P4 can NOT run dual procs.

Only XEONs are SMP-enabled

Make sure you don't rip that sticker when you open the box. It will void your warranty; the reason you went with ready-to-build unit in the first place.
