I have one of these at 475/450 would a newer card make a lot of difference if Fedex ever delivers my new mobo.

When my old epox wa s alive I had a gig of pc2700 and a mobile xp running at an actual 2400mhz.

I feel that anyone with a FX5900 or 9800Pro/XT still has some wind under their wings. That's just opinion though, as some have higher tastes for video cards than I do:p

I've ran an Abit-Ti4200 up until this year. Actually, I still run it. I just upgraded because of the prices on the 9800pro's out there, but I am still happy with it. I've recently felt the need to purchase an x600 and can tell that I went down a notch:p But to put it into perspective, I ran Doom3 with the 9800pro but not in all it's glory. If you don't want glory, then I think you'll be fine. It was totally playable, but you can't rake in all the pretty things it offers (hey, if you've never seen 'em you don't miss them!) Who knows about HL2 though. The benchmarks so far seem like it'll be rough on even a 6800 (even though we've heard it'll be playable on old cards). Again, may just have to turn things off...and that shouldn't be fun with what HL2 is offering up to us in graphics!

That's a fairly new card, and I'm guessing you paid heavily for it. So, based on that, my thoughts will appear to sit on the fence on upgrade or not. I'd seriously sit back while PCIE gets into full swing until thinking more on upgrading from that current card. By then, HL2 should be about ready to hit the market and you'll have a better choice of cards, boards that run them, and prices. I'm betting on the 6800GT's to hit $350 area...and could there possibly be a 6900/x900 in the next 3 months!? The past trends have shown this is very much a reality.
