I notice several video cards have Mini-DP ports.

Are these better than HDMI? DVi?

Are the used for something other than the normal card to monitor setup?

My monitor has HDMI, DVI, Vga and a 'Display Port' (not a mini)

DisplayPort by itself is supposedly better than HDMI and DVI, but nobody is really using it. So practically, no, DP is not better than any of the other standards we have.

I swayed over that a bit, but really LatiosXT gave the pure and simple answer.

There's a huge use for it, but it's implementation for it fell flat on it's nose and just become yet another plug on the back of a video card. The idea was to have a bunch of glorious screens in front of you off one port, but we're still grasping straws trying to get people to have 3 screens. Like Intel's BTX motherboard standard, no one is ready but Dell.
