Maximum PC

Is there a website that lists the gpus max screen size supported or do they just list max res? I have a HD5850 with a 37" tv attached. My res is 1920x1080. I have a one inch border on the screen surrounding the desktop screen. I just wanted to see if there is a page that lists whe gpu screen size that can be used at 1920x1080. Any help would be great thanks

Generically speaking, maximum size depends on the interface you're using, it doesn't matter what GPU you're using.

• VGA: There is no standard maximum resolution.
• DVI: It depends on the type, look at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:DVI_ ... _Types.svg for the connector you have
  
  • Single Link: 1920x1200@60Hz
  • Dual Link: Limit depends on implementation
  • DVI-A: Same as VGA
• HDMI: Depends on HDMI interface (i.e., HDMI 1.1, 1.2, etc...)
• DisplayPort: Depends on DisplayPort interface

So only DVI Single Link has a hard limit. Everything else depends on the bandwidth, but nominally this tops out at 2560x1600. Newer standards will probably include 2K, 4K, and Ultra HD.

Screen size (inches) has no relation to resolution (number of pixels).

My 24" monitor has a resolution of 1920x1200 but there are 32" screens that only have a resolution of 1280x720.

So find out what the highest resolution your TV screen has and that will be the limit you can do regardless of what your videocard is capable of rendering.

As far as the border goes that sounds more like a setting of the TV than with the graphics card.

I'm confused. Your card will output 2560 x 1600 Max (and not probably doing it well) and is listed in the specs.

The screen you pick is just the output and a different beast. Will your screen do it? Ask the screen...but your card will "do" 2560 x 1600. Don't need some webpage for that. It's a card spec and is on the sheet that came with your card.
