Intel buys them (not likely) or they built a hex core graphics base for the mobile market that really doesn't mater for 2013. Angry Birds just doesn't need this yet.

(3DFx invented 3D graphics and it wasn't 1999. That they bought them out, it's passable as a claim that I have personal issues with. Focus is on mobile...sigh)

Actually NVIDIA had a 3D card before 3dfx did.

It's more likely they're talking about when the term "graphics processing unit" came into mainstream with the original GeForce. I guess you could argue that a GPU could be anything meant to accelerate graphics.
