I was looking at hard drives on Newegg and I see that the Seagate Constellation drives are MUCH more expensive than the Barracudas. Same size drives and same size cache. What's the differnce between the two besides the price. And if there is difference, is it substantial enough for the price increase?

I think the Constellation series are Enterprise HHDs, Enterprise drives have more robust heads and are designed for continuous writes and are supposed to be more reliable. And (not a 100% sure on this) I think they are not designed to be used as a standalone HHD like what you would use in a typical Desktop PC.

Enterprise drives are priced for reliability and are usually rated for a Mean-Time Failure Rate (MTFR) of 1.5 million hours, as opposed to 100,000 hours or so on consumer drives. Keep in mind, these drives are meant to be on all the time.
