Maximum PC

I am starting out trying to record some videos of my minecraft adventures and when I try to record the screen, my FPS in-game is always less than the optimal 30 FPS (for human viewing), and any screen recording software always says that the video was actually only taking in about 5 FPS.

So, I am asking what screen recording software has the smallest and least noticeable impact on FPS of games?

Specs:
Core i5 430M (2.27 GHz)
8 GB Ram
14" (720p) screen
and
24" (1080p) screen
(the effect is essentially the same on both screens)

I've tried using Camtasia studio (which seems to get at least somewhat decent performance), CamStudio, BandiCam, and Fraps.
Haven't tried Sony Vegas Movie Studio, but I already think it would take too much power.
I'm not streaming the videos, just recording them as I play games.
Any Ideas? Thanks in advance

FRAPS ... as far as I know that's pretty much the industry standard video(game) capture software.

Yes, FRAPS is probably the best one out there, since it's actually built with this in mind.

Keep in mind however you'll incur massive I/O load on your hard drive, so if you're playing a game that streams its data (or anything open world like The Elder Scrolls, Assassin's Creed, etc), your performance is going to suffer. Also if you're trying to get 60FPS, this is sort of a fantasy dream at the moment if you're trying to run say Battlefield 3 at Ultra settings, unless you're running a dual CPU system. And in fact, you should probably set your expectations down to 30FPS.

Even with FRAPS, you want a separate hard drive to write the data to. FRAPS is the best since it just dumps the frames with very little compression. It is high-quality stuff but it will take a toll reading from your hard drive. Even an external hard drive will suffice (preferably eSATA or USB3.0).
