GTX 690  not out yet and a cool $1000+

If you need something now, GTX 590 for around $750+ or the Asus Mars II for $3k+, but any of those are stupid amounts of money to waste even if you had a blank check. Need to know factors like your PC, resolutions you'll be running and what applications you want to run? Yes you said adobe, but you don't need anything more than a $30 GT430 to run the display for photoshop...

Depends if it's the version with Compute Shader acceleration support. But even then, a lower midrange card would probably be the border where the returns aren't worth the price.

I wouldn't jump so fast. This may not be Adobe's Photochop, but rather many of their other "PREMIER" products that heavily rely on CUDA for movie preview and rendering. If it's Premier, I'm on the fence myself with AMD coming to terms with computing power of a GPU and trying to get in the mix. Theoretically, AMD cards should have always been better than CUDA cards, but Stream just wasn't implemented well and thus wasn't adopted.

I'd just like to see what Adobe has in mind with the HD7970 out currently and the GTX 7xx coming out very soon. Will they switch? But I digress. For now, the current software favors CUDA while you're working with the media and I must conclude that a GTX590 is the best of the best out there for this. Not economical or wise (as a 570 isn't far behind really), but it sure has some nerd cred for about another 7 weeks.

And if this IS just photochop...NM. $100 HD 6670 then.

FYI, dual gpu card solutions are terrible choices for CS5.x; they don't work well and you will be paying $$$ for only using one gpu chip. They don't like SLI or SLI-like cards. And you don't exactly need an expensive 580 to get some gpu hardware accleration boost in premier. Even a cheap 560 will work just as good for multiple HD live previews, provided you have enough bandwidth from the source to play raw HD files.

And its the 600 series... not 700 series.
