Maximum PC

I bought an EVGA Geforce 8400gs 512MB DDR3 to replace my HD 3450 that went out, the 3450 would play badcompany 2 on all low dx9, but this one will not....

The weird thing is that my friend can play on his 8400gs and his system is even worse than mine...

Intel pentium D 925
2 GB patriot DDR2 800
250 GB SATA HDD
EVGA 8400gs

I even over clocked the living hell out of it and added a second fan and it still wont run on all low setting and DX9, the EVGA people say that it should work.... but this is my overclock so what should i do ? I think I need a new one this one is obviously not working right....

Your overclocks are way too aggressive. Overclocking past a certain point yields a point of diminishing returns, and this card comes from the factory overclocked to begin with.

Faster clocks sometimes require added voltage and both exponentially increase temps. When temps are high, chips throttle. Pushing the VRAM too hard is another way to drop efficiency and increase heat generation. Adding another fan does not necessarily help.

I would back those clocks back down to stock, install the latest drivers, run HWMonitor and see what temp the video card runs at. Shouldn't even be overclocking until you know if you're keeping the part cool enough. A much more modest OC should get you where you want to go if the card isn't overheating.
