Maximum PC

Greetings all

Whether I'm building a new system, or replacing the card in an old one, what are some the things I should be looking for when buying a new videocard? I want to make sure I select the proper card my system can handle.

ok what CPU,PSU,and MOBO do you have?

is this a prebuilt like from Dell,HP etc,etc..or did you build this pc yourself?

Price to performance ratio, compatibility, features to name a few. If you are building a new pc, it would be best to gather the CPU and mobo first.

As others have noted, CPU/motherboard/psu are necessary information to make this decision.

Perhaps more important, your display's resolution and what you plan to do with the card is key info. (e.g. play WOW? play Metro2033? do CAD work?)

Last, what you plan to spend is needed.
