It's De-Multiplexing. If you just want to do it a few times and be done with it, TMPGenc's Express can pull Mpeg's apart and put them back together without too much fan fare in the MPEG tools. It'll do AVI's and about 20 other formats by moving beyond the first screen and starting a project. The trial will watermark Multiplexes, but not sure if the split files have any limitations.

If you like it, buy it. Well worth the money.

Let's just say for a second I never used this software before. How exactly do I use this to yank the music off an avi file?

Lemme see if I can capture the screen real quick. Just getting it up for view in a simple manner:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2iiiUdLx4Q

I use this for about 95% of video editing I do and save the high end editing for the files that really need it in the utmost quality. TMPGenc is also not threaded in the version I'm using on this PC (4.0), so it can take a while. The newer version (4.7.6.304) is threaded and zips right though the process. Makes really nice H.264 videos too.

Just add the video to Movie Maker and delete the video portion. You can also try VirtualDub, and save the audio as a .wav file.

Don't get complicated.

Download the free RAD Video Tools (Bink Video). - Google it

1. Open your .AVI file
2. Click "Convert a File"
3. Select .WAV as your "Output type..."
4. Click "Convert"
5. Done.

You can use real player converter ,,and convert the video file into .mp3,,and then use real player trimmer if you wan't to extract an exact part (music)
from the video file

Then why are you still here? Honestly, I can't get used to the forum layout. It's really unorganized.
