Hi guys,
My sapphire 4870x2 took a dump about 3 weeks before the warranty expired (woo!) and sapphire has been very good to me. Today I got an email and they are offering me a Toxic 5850 as a replacement for my 4870x2. Is this fair? From looking at this website http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/270974-33-5850-4870 it seems like it would be a hair of a downgrade. Should I accept it, or should I request a 5870? Please reply asap because regardless I need a card back in time for portal 2 release!!!!! THANKS!

They might be going by MSRP market value which a 5850 is pretty close to a 4870x2 so I don't know if you'll be able to wrangle a 5870 out of them. A 5850 would be a downgrade though so it can't hurt to mention that and see what they have to say.

videocard ranking...6990 being the number one on the top list....so i Suggest you request to sapphire a 5870 videocard not the 5850..

I just went through this with Asus. I had a 4890 die, plus I had crossfire. They offered me two new 5830s to replace both video cards and I took it which was really a slight downgrade from what I had. I would tell them you have crossfire and want two cards or the 70 version of a single card to replace your broken card. You have to have two of the same card to run crossfire if that is what you want to do.

Nasty
