Maximum PC

Reading reviews of this notebook has made me skeptical of the Optimus technology. Has anyone here had problems with this?

One user said that the problem cleared up with a beta driver update, but that was only one person.

I own an Alienware M11x with the GT335M and Optimus, and have had no problems except on occasion running into a game that doesn't automatically start the 335, but that can be set manually in the driver control panel. Otherwise, no issues at all. I wouldn't worry about newegg reviews, they're generally misinformed and not representative of power users' experiences with products.
EDIT: After seeing one of the reviews, it is true that Optimus won't work with browser games unless you have the GPU active any time your web browser is open. But please tell me you don't play those browser games anyways...

Thanks for the clarification. That's good to know. I know that Newegg reviews aren't the most trustable thing ever, but enough of them brought up the point...

I can also attest to how good the M11x with optimus is. The Intel GPU is fine for browser games. (I mainly play Bloons TD 4, which is more CPU limited though).

Well there are a few actual 3D browser games, such as Quake Arena, which Optimus might have trouble with, and is one of many reasons why having 3D games in a browser is a really bad way to do it.
