Hey I only got GTX260 but I just wanted to share this info..

take a look at the 3rd and 5th entry
- 3rd entry (single-GPU: GTX570) about $350
- 5th entry (dual-GPU: crossfire of HIS HD 6850) about $180x2 = $360.

the Crossfire of 6850 seems to be the winner for FarCry2 game, for just about $10 more.

I also read that 6850 can be modded to be 6870 !

So who agree that the new GTX570 can be taken down by two 6850 ?

That's 6950 that can be modded to a 6970. Two different cards there. Dual 6870s are for the most part faster than a 570 for sure though. But you also have the driver headaches, increased heat output, and increased power consumption to deal with. I'm currently running CrossFire in my system. My next system will almost definitely be single-card.

Yea I think my next upgrade will be these... (2 of the sapphire video card crossfire on Asus mobo)...

I just can't tell if there will be enough spacing for 2 sapphire on this motherboard. If it fits, then I'll prolly get those above + i7-2600k + 4GB DDR3 + I would say 750Watt PSU.

after hours and hours of reading up on what video card solution (single-GPU or Xfire ) to get for my new gamer PC thats gonna be up and running on 2nd week of February ( PSU coming in late)..


I can conclude that..
1) two Radeon 6850 xfire = superb performance, but super bad temperature.
2) single GTX570 = falls behind in performance in comparison to the R6850 Xfire, but great temperature
3) both solution are about the same price (about $350)
4) if only GTX570 would cost $300, then I would get this. I'll sacrifice few FPS for simplicity of single-GPU solution and great temperature spec.

yea.. sorry for the bump.. just wanted to hear comments and suggestions if its wiser to go with two 6850 or a single GTX 570.

6850s in CrossFire run at a higher temperature, but still one that is perfectly safe. Also, the overclock better than a GTX 570. A little food for thought.
