AMD has decided to retire the ATI brand, they will continue making Radeon and FirePro cards but will now label them as AMD cards

Times they are a-changing.... :) We will still get the same quality vidcards. A little sad to say goodbye to the name. My very first video card back in 1995 was an ATI Mach64 with 4mb of VRam!!

No issue for all concerned really ...we gear heads know our tech and the masses get fed what the OEm manufacturer feeds them according to the buyers budget.

AMD Radeon 6800....hmmm...has a good ring to it.

My first video card was an ATi Rage 128. I was sad to hear that the long-running ATi name is gone. This means of the original few graphics competitors, only the Nvidia name remains (and Matrox to a very pathetic extent).

So does this mean their cards are all going to be an ugly-assed swamp green? That would suck, but also wouldn't surprise me at all.

Does this mean the AMD video cards will be as affordable as their CPUs? It will be a bit strange then when i tell other users i am using an Intel processor with an AMD Card, and getting strange looks as if i am the one confused. Was nice to keep the brands separated, but now as ATI folds into AMD, I hope their products' quality are not changed for the worse.

I should hope not. After all, I purchased a Radeon HD 4870 for the sole reason of it being red. :P

I kid.

Your subject title almost made me have a heart attack (just recently purchased a Radeon HD 5770).

I always bought Radeons, because Ruby was on it.

AMD might be rebranding Radeons, but i hope they keep Radeon Ruby(?) around. Maybe even give her a makeover to celebrate!

I can see headlines now, "Radeon Ruby mutates into Swamp Thing!", lmao.

I never owned any ATI graphic card yet it's sad to see the end of the ATI brand.

Mainly because I've been fan of ATI even though I never had chance to own any ATI GPUs.

In my minds, AMD Radeon will never sound like ATI Radeon, that's for sure...
