I was just wondering. The gt335m in my m11xr2 is getting to 68 C under F@H load.

That's a perfectly safe temp. Mobile products can actually take more heat than desktop ones because of limited heat dissipation in laptops. I have noticed that the i7 runs very cool under load (maxing at 58C folding right now), but that when I fire up a game and the GT335M activates, it really starts to heat up.

Is your i7 oc'd? Mine gets to 75 under folding load

Also, how much do you think putting some TX-2 on the GPU and CPU will help temps?

nope, I haven't overclocked it. OC'ing the i7 hurts multi-threaded performance (and thus PPD) because the temps don't allow Turbo to kick in much. Several review sites have shown it to be true.

As for replacing the thermal paste, it would definitely void warranties.

I found that mine would turbo to the same multi, giving me 1.8 ghz without the oc or 2.2 ghz with it.

Also, I just found that the gpu folding will raise the cpu temp some.

Yeah definitely. Just started GPU folding on it today, my CPU temps are up to 69C.

Most mobile nVidia GPUs goes up to 105C before down clocking to save itself. At 105C the driver will either crash or you will notice a huge performance drop. So your fine in any case (lots of headroom for overclocking).

This is what I was going to point out. The title of the thread asks about "safe" temp. If the GPU overheats, it will simply underclock/undervolt itself to prevent damage. - unless something goes terribly, horribly bad, just keep folding away!

P.S. I've found that a shot of canned air brings temps down rather quickly - just an FYI in case you get close to the "throttle" temp and want to hold it off a tad longer.
