Are they worth it? I just bought two 4870s and I didnt realize I don't get the full warranty with them. Is the reliability there in refurbished cards or will I end up regretting it?

Well, you couldn't have bought a better brand for refurbs at least. I think you'll be fine.

I've had great luck with XFX and Visiontek refurbs. Never had a problem with them failing. With XFX, I'd still go ahead and register them on their website. If something goes wrong, then I'm willing to bet that they'll still honor it's lifetime support. Basically, you're the second owner right? I think they'd agree with that logic.

I've never purchased a refurbished graphics card before, but from past experience you will know if you have a problem within 90 days ;) .

Just register the cards and pretend you have a full lifetime warranty (the computer can interpret fear :P ).

I bought 2 refurbished 9800gx2 cards from newegg for $200 apiece that I heard about on this forum about a year ago. One GPU on one card crapped out, probably because I OC'd it too much, but the other GPU on that card, and both on the other one are still working great. I'm happy with it. Now I regularly check the refurbished listings there.

Thanks Ted. I'll try that if I ever want to put in the 3rd and 4th GPUs again. For now though I'm happy with 2 9800s.

I had graydiggy bake 2 GTX 280's for me. They wouldn't fold, but can now do.

Also, those 9800 GX2's are 10k ppd each (seeing that you're a folder)
