What's the best/easy way to share files via DSL, my brothers and friends have DSL and would like to transfer data to each other (200MB-5GB) worth. I read some post to use FTP, XP file sharing. We all run WinXP (home/Pro). Security is a consern, we want to make sure our data is not accesible by anyone else.

I'd recommend setting up an FTP server. CesarFTP is the best I've found. Forward ports 20 and 21 to your computer. Set up an account system so that only users that log in can access it. Then voila, you're done.

I would say FTP as well...but kick it up a notch and use SFTP on port 22 (SSH over FTP).

or you can just easily download grouper and be done with it all. its lets you invite people to your personal netowork and then whenever that person starts up grouper you can see whatever files they share on grouper. 5 minutes and all your friends can be ready to go.

Does this require a seperate computer or can a added hardrive be used to run and FTP server. I saw a suggestion about grouper, whats the though on this program is it any good. It's looks simple to setup and use.
