Hi guys,

There's a website that doesn't provide me some of their content because of my geographical location even though I'm a paid subscriber.

Is there a way I can bypass this so when they receive my http request it appears as I'm in their geographical range (basically I'm in country A and want my request delivered as I'm in country B)???

Is this possible in the first place? If so should I look into Proxy Server or where/what? Any information regarding alternatives, paid and/or free will help.

Thanks!

Try using HotSpotShield.

Thanks for your suggestion guoruiwu1994.
I just tried installing it, but it doesn't support 64 bit OSs. I'm using Widows 7 x64. Not a problem though, I'll try it on my other partition where I have XP Pro x86.

I'll report about it once I try it out. Maybe later this evening.
Thanks again :)

You could just change your Country in "Region and Language". It's easier for the web developer to leverage the built in tools that simply look at this information, than to actually interrogate your IP.

More sophisticated websites may interrogate your IP though and compare it against geographically assigned IP's, in which case you will have to use a utility that spoofs it as coming from another geographical location.

guoruiwu1994,
It worked perfectly for my Win XP Pro x86 system. Thanks!

Wolfmann,
I checked my Region and Language settings and I have it setup as United States and English. It always has been like that since it's a USA/English version/copy of the OS, so I guess that's not enough, but thanks for the suggestion :)

Change your country setting to be "Country B" the website is expecting you to be in. You'd be surprised how well it works. The BBC website use to block and exclude streaming of programs to anyone outside the UK...the only way they did it was to check the country code. Change it to the UK and you get access. Don't even have to change the language.

Hi Wolfmann,

Actually my country setting is and has been B all the time (USA) even though I'm physically in another country...

This is the deal, I live in a border town. I work in country B but live in country A. LOL! that sounds funny. Maybe changing it to country A, try accessing the website and change it back to B.

Anyways, HotSpotShield is a good option when you stream content through a web browser, but what about from a streaming device such as XBOX 360 or a Network Blu Ray player? In that case will it have to be through some configuration directly on the router? Do you know something about this?

Thanks for your input :)
