My first post here so, HI everyone :D

I just recenlty got elected to the status of Network Admin for a small Office, not a big thing, but a step in the right direction for me. Thing is some Dell systems were purchased solely for the purpose of Filesharing. First computer being an Xps, followed by a dimension 8400 and then a laptop, inspiron I belive.

I got everthing setup for a wireless network using 2 Dell truemobile 2300 broadband/ ap routers and briddged them together per dells instructions. the reason behind using two is that the layout of this office is somewhat awkard, there are 2 buildings gapped by a 40 foot walkway and that by using 2 of these routers, one in each building by the window allowed for solid signal strength.

I appoligze for being long,but I want to be clear here. :oops: all the systems will connect and have good to excellent connections both routers can see eachother, but the wierd thing is its touch and go on the workgroup called "halo"'s computers seeing each other and being able to share files . One second I can see fred and access his shared folder next it tells me that this resource is denied.... then I cant connect fred to the wireless connection at all followed by not seeing the other 2 computers under my workgroup and vice versa for all the systems. Sigh....

Not much has been done to these systems nor have they been online that much.

My network configuration is pretty simple
workgroup=halo
all my wireless devices are automagicly recieving ip address via dhcp server(router)
default gateway=192.168.2.1
fred=192.168.2.2
will=192.168.2.3
linda=192.168.2.4
subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 and I have no firewall/Icf on

Do I need some schooling on my network skills or Is this a crappy router/routers.

Sounds like signal strength issues - any luck on better antenaes?

I'm not sure if the routers antenaes can be replaced.
Signal strength....that and the lag time expierenced when accessing a share folder.
Now that I think about it when the systems first arrived I had them all in one room and everything worked fine, so that is probably the most likey cause.

I don't think replace so much as add to.
Pringles cans were supposed to be really good - just need some Dell stickers... ;)

Lag will occur because of low signal strength.

You just need a wireless repeater (amplifier).

Here you go.

Thank me later.
