Any one know of a good third party (cheap or free) SMTP email server program that i could use on my xp home OS?

Honestly, I don't know of anything free for the windows environment.

Anyhow, Exactly what are you trying to accomplish??

Well sure..but what do you want to do??

Honestly, you'd be better off just setting up your pop3, and then using whatever smtp from whoever registered your domain name

That's what I have most of my users do (I run mail on very selective basis). but we have people POP mail from our server, but send through their provider (i.e. Comcast).

In setting up both Sendmail and Qmail on Linux, SMTP was always inherent to those applications...I was not aware there was a seperate app that handled that.

What application are you using for a mail server now?

I'll just assume that you don't want to hear anything other than an answer to your question so...

Mercury Mail, the same guys that wrote Pegasus Mail.

It's free, a bit tough to use though...
