A friend has asked for my help with a new setup for his home and not being too familiar with it all, I'm turning to you guys here.

He currently has 2 computers in his home office (same room) a P4 PC and a G4 Mac. Both are connected through a small Linksys router that in turn goes to a DSL modem. And everything works great.

But here's the deal. Both their kids just got new iBooks for their birthdays and they don't want to run cable all around the house. They want to be able to either add a wireless router to the mix, or replace their existing router with a wireless one.

My question is 2-fold - (1) would it just make more sense to get rid of their current router altogether and install a wireless router so that the 2 laptops can connect from different points of the house but the 2 desktops in the same room can still be wired? and (2) can anyone recommend a wireless router (brand, model) that works well with both PCs and Macs? Or are all routers pretty much the same and it doesn't matter whether they connect to a PC or a Mac?

Thanks,
Dreamawake

Ok..less headache, but does anyone have any recommendations for the actual router - one that will play nice with both PCs and MACS or are they all just pretty much the same.

They're all pretty much the same.

We've got 2 Dell Dimensions, 2 Power Mac G4s, 1 iMac LCD, 1 eMac all on a Linksys Router.

We used to use MacSense/Xsense Routers because they were out before Linksys and had no problems with Macs and PCs co-existing but they stopped updating the firmware so we switched over to Linksys.

linksys is definitely a good brand and in this case scenario, its better to get a wireless router that has ethernet ports on the back of the router. this way both the ibooks can connect wireless while on the other hand, the desktops can connect on the back of the router.
