From my searches online it seems the Intel 2100 3B wireless controller (from Centrino) supports WPA. I am trying to get my laptop to use WPA with my Netgear WGR614 wireless router, but I don't know how. There's no mention of WPA in the wireless networking property tabs. I am running WinXP Pro SP1 (tried SP2, had some problems). I am pretty sure I have the WPA patch installed.

Do I need special drivers from Intel? this is a Gateway M505X laptop, centrino 1.4Ghz.

Right now I have WEP 128bit on. That and SSID suppression and MAC filtering should be enough for basic security, but it'll be cool if I can use WAP :D The router definitely supports it.

Your WiFi chipset needs to support it.

Usually a firmware update will do it. I updated my SMC 802.11b card and it has WPA support now.
