i have a problem with my windows 7 file server that is driving me crazy for the last couple of weeks. I couldn't find anything that is even close to this problem. Here are the details:
I have a windows 7 computer. All my media (pics, videos, movies) is on a 2TB external USB hard drive that is connected to the computer. I shared the complete hard drive to everyone in the network without any password protection and enabled the 40 or 56 bit encryption in the advanced sharing settings. I can access the files from my raspberry pi and from multiple android phones and tablets. So far everything is working great.
I recently bought a new laptop with windows 8. I can access the files just fine. The problem starts when i write to the shared hard drive. (Copy files, work on pictures, etc...): As soon as the windows 8 laptop performs a write operation, the raspberry pi and the android devices will not be able to connect to the server at all unless i restart the server. On the raspberry pi i get 2 error messages "Connection Timed Out" and "Could not connect to the network server". For my android devices i am using the app "X-Plore" and "ES File Explorer". The error message shows that the SMB server couldn't be reached.
This is really strange. I'm hope i supplied all the information that is needed. Please help!!
