I have a desktop that is wired to my router, and two laptops that are connected wirelessly. From my desktop I can open documents on either laptop, edit them, and save them without any issues. However, I am having problems when I open a document on laptop A from laptop B. I can edit it, but can't save it back to the other laptop without renaming it.

I've tried going back into the documents folder of each laptop, and setting it to allow all homegroup users to edit and save. That works for a day or two, and then it reverts back to having issues. This is only on the laptops using wireless.

Windows 8 on all computers, and the router is a Netgear WNDR4500.

I've tried running the Homegroup trouble shooter to no avail.

I'm not sure with windows 8, however in windows 7 MS implemented a way to make network file-sharing HARDER. Go figure. All I can guess is it was in the name of security.

I only know this because I recently had to send my W7 system in for a new hard drive which means a new install. During that procces I was confronted with a window that asked me about my homegroup and if I skipped it, it would keep me from accessing or saving files from/to other computers. I skipped it anyway but filled it in the back of my mind in case I had to research it later.
