I have searched several posts and I have had success setting up 2 routers, but both routers can see computers on the other ip which is what I was trying to prevent. Not sure what I am doing wrong.
Here is what I have Internet----Modem---Router 1 (public)----router 2 (private) Router 1 has the IP of 192.168.2.1, subnet 255.255.255.0 Starting IP is 100 (192.168.1.100)
Router 2 has been setup with IP 192.168.1.1, subnet 255.255.255.0 Router 2 internet IP 192.168.2.101 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 Gateway 192.168.2.1 DNS 192.168.2.1
Like I said both routers work and I can get to the internet on either IP via LAN or Wireless. The problem I have is if my son connects to the public wifi he can access all the computers on the private IP. I would like to have both routers to have wifi and LAN capabilities, but of course separate and secure of each other. I guess I should also note that I set the private router to 192.168.1.1 so that I don't have to reprogram all the other devices that were already on my previous network with static IP addresses.
Note sure where I went wrong????
Windows 7 or Windows Vista computers. Both are Linksys routers.
Thanks!
