just put a great new unit together - Intel I-7-3820,Asus P9x79, 16 Gb. G Skill, Samsung 128 Gb. SSD, Western Digital Black 1TB. I have Cox high speed cable and new Asus N router. This cable/router combo has worked very fast for a year on my eight year old desktop. New unit is very slow, 10-20 seconds to load anything. When switching back to old unit , things are fast again, so It's something in the new unit. It works, but slowly. Any help, Ideas ? Thanks

So no changes in your network but the new machine is still noticeably slower? First of all, any security software (firewal, antivirus, etc) running on it not on the old machine? If not, try running these commands on the new one.

in command prompt:

Code:
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
tracert google.com
tracert 74.125.45.101 (one of google's ip's)

that should clear any dns entries and get the computer to fetch a recent copy. the tracerts should let us see if there's a issue on the network as well as whether it's having a issue with just the dns resolution or network. let us know the result.

Hi Smokex365,

Noticed your thread and, as I have a similar sudden slow internet problem [Speed was 12mps until suddenly went to less than 1mbs.
], I thought I would intergect my data in the hopes you might have a solution.

Background:
Problem computer is connected by Ethernet cable with two other computers in a LAN, which are both still getting a normal 12mbs.
So far, I’ve applied the following fixes to no avail:
1) Ran a multitude of antivirus software multiple times in both Normal and Safe mode.
2) Turned off all firewall & antivirus software.
3) Reset modem/router and switcher multiple times.
4) Connected problem computer Ethernet cable directly to modem/router.
5) Swapped Ethernet cables with other “normal” computers on the LAN.
6) Uninstalled/reinstalled and updated both Realtek and Intel drivers.
7) Swapped input from Intel to Realtek and back. Drivers up to date.
8) AT&T ISP tech no help.
9) All other indications appear normal [device manager, diagnostics, etc.]

As per your suggestions, I flushed/ registered DNS and ran a tracert using 2 Google IP's with the following results:
