Basically, I am looking for a free network traffic volume analysis tool so I can measure the traffic going in and out of my network. I do know wireshark, but I dont know if they do this kind of analysis. Thanks.

What kind of analysis are you looking for? Where network traffic is going to/from? Totals? etc.

Depending on the type of analysis, Wireshark could do the analysis. Could also look at something like Snort, but that may be more than what you need.

Totals (rate) going in and out of my router and where it goes and comes from.

Checkout Security Onion or look at Backtrack. A whole OS may be a overkill, but there may be a tool included with one of them that does what you want. Alternatively, you can use Wireshark for this. I know it gives total number of packets and I think it does data rates, etc.
