Maximum PC

I'm having trouble with my wireless network on the wife's bedroom PC so I connected the wired ethernet cable back up. How can I get the PC to use the wired network when it won't show up in the connections list?
Do I have to remove the wireless PCI Card?

XP machine

All I can find is the Wireless connection. I installed the wireless card because I'm using a 75' ethernet cable and thought the wireless would be faster but I think it's slower.
So do I need to remove the wireless card and reboot the system to make it see the wired one?

I went into Device Manager and just disabled the wireless card. I was able to leave it in, because it stayed disabled when I rebooted. Same with a 56k modem.

Recheck your BIOS to see if you'd disabled the onboard LAN... re-enable it if you did. Then reboot and see if XP detects it.

You also may need drivers for the onboard LAN. Sometimes it's included with chipset drivers, other times it's separate.

I just tried what you suggested and tried to reinstall the Lan drivers from the M/B Disc and it wouldn't accept them. So my next thing is to reinstall XP and start all over it's been almost a year and the wife goes thru games like water so It may be a good time to do a reinstall.

The easiest thing to do is change the priority order of the interfaces. If you go into the networking settings at the top you will an advanced menu. Go into it and you will see an area called "Connections" and they will list your adapters in the order Windows will try to use them. So all you would have to do is put the one you want used first to the top.
