Ok, becuase of the fact that Norton Ghost (or atleast the version I have) will not install on my server (thank you Symantec for making server versions that cost more!) and I want to be able to make images of my sever, laptop, desktop etc... I have decided (for the mean time atleast) to move my file server over to XP pro instead of w2k3 standard.

I know there is a 10 connection limit, but that is ok, becuase its just a simple home network, and wont have more than 6 computers on it at any one time.

Simple enough solution? What is the best way to set it up?

if you still have the default "simple file sharing" just set up the shares, create user accounts and allow port 445 for smb through the firewall.
