I have some video files on my computer and I want to share them over the internet to a friend. How would I go about doing this?

Note: He doesn't want to download the files. Just stream them.

To stream you'll need to set up a streaming server.

To just serve them, open port 21 on your router and forward it to your computer, set up an FTP server on your computer (CesarFTP .99g is the best I've found for Windows -- it's super easy to set up, too), and share the video files on the FTP server.

I already have a ftp server set up but thats no good because it requires him to download the files (which takes to long). How do I go about setting up a streaming server?

Check out www.shoutcast.com it is a little hard to configure, but with some work you will be up and running.

good luck and let me know how it works out. Depending on your upstream bandwidth you may not be able to stream a full-fledged video.

That wasn't really what I was looking for. That is really hard to configure but thats not what kept me back. My friend would only be able to view the video I am currently streaming. I was looking for somthing where he could browse and choose a video like ftp. ALso from what I read I would have to convert the a .nsc or a .nsv or somthing like that. Would take to long. Thanks for the help though! :) Anyone else have any ideas or is that the only way?
