EDIT: I really should have at least tried Home Sharing before writing this post...entire library is now browse-able from ATV...
Recently bought Apple TV (2nd Gen.) to stream Netflix to the home theater for parents. The functionality I wanted out of it, however, was music streaming throughout the house. Here are my concerns.
iTunes Home Sharing only wants to sync the purchased music on the account, and not my entire library. I can, however, access my entire library through iTunes on other home computers. I don't want to stream music, (i.e.Airfoil
), because that requires playing the music from a host, rather than simply hosting the media. AirPlay has the same idea; streaming music rather than playing it from the AppleTV.
Question 1: How can I view music from the Apple Tv, or even iPad?
2. Can I use the iPad to also view the music library, then select a song to be played through the AppleTV, similar to the AirFoil iPad app?
3. Will eventually be running iTunes server (if this all works out) from a Windows Home Server.
Do I need to hack my AppleTV to get this funcionality?I'm just diving into this subject, I will continue research and return to edit post.
