I just bought a Netgear wndr3700 after reading the recent review in the mag.
Here is what I have:
A WNDR3400 base unit router connected to cable modem.
This serves wireless G clients throughout the home over 2.4ghz.
A WNDR3700 in my office.
This is a wireless bridge for wired clients only (no repeating), in my home office, over 5ghz.
My goal was to use the 5ghz network for the bridge to get the extra bandwidth above what I'm getting on G, this is the reason I bought this router since I already had this bridge set up on an Asus G router.
WNDR3700 only has WEP encryption for security over the 5ghz radio when bridging/repeating. This is not acceptable, since the security is broken. If I could live with it, WEP still limits me to G speeds, which is what I already had before buying this router.
I can return this wndr3700. I already own the 3400.
I want the N speeds in my office over wifi.
I need security, this is a connection used daily for many hours for business.
I would like a reliable solution for less than $150, if possible.
Since the wndr3400 only does wep over 5ghz as well, it looks like I may need a different base router.
