Does auto-update has anything to do with Networking?

I am using XP home edition and my auto-updated never worked because I couldn't even select that option, does it have anything to do with networking? I have some of the things disabled like Marvel Yukon and 1394 Connction; and I have no idea what they are.

Any type of suggestions?

Thanks ahead.

The only networking involved would be your connection to the internet. The only caveat is there may be a specific port that needs to be opened depending on the update mechanism.

The Marvell Yukon is a network card, but if you're using a different card, having this disabled is of no consequence. The 1394 Connection is a firewire connection.

What OS are you using what exactly occurs with the auto-update?

I was never able to enable the auto-update option (The Window XP OS autoupdate). I am just wondering why and when I bought the Laptop those network connections weren't there. they appeared after I installed Alcholo ??%.

OS? --> XP

It's not dependent on whether a connection exists or not.

You probably want to post some specifrics as to what occurs with the auto update and what you've done up to now.
