Maximum PC

So heres the problem, we have cable at this house, and the speed when checked on just one computer directly hooked up to the cable modem is almost 12mb

When I have the computers hooked up to the router (2 via ethernet and 1 via wireless), the same computers speed test are less than 3. My wifes laptop (the wireless) comes in under 1 mb.


What am I doing wrong?

With my last set up, where it was just my wifes wireless and my computer hooked up via ethernet, both computers had very similiar speed test whenever I checked.

What I am wondering is, is the router splitting the signal somehow to each computer?

And should I do a complete fresh install with the router? Because what I did when we moved into this house was just hook up the router and because everyones internet connected immediately, I didnt give it a second thought.

Well now Im just totally confused....

So, I reconnect the router and check internet speed from my computer and my wifes and its both high.


I dont know why last night it was so ridiculously slow and today it was fine.


My only guess is that by resetting the modem that fixed some problems..maybe jeesh I dunno.
