Maximum PC

So I don't know a ton about networks but I keep running into the same problem at my house.

We have a wireless n Dlink 615 router connected to a cable modem.

Normally only my desktop, my dads laptop, and my moms laptop are connected to it. my desktop and dads laptop are connected via cable while my moms is via wireless n.

Additionally I connect my ps3 via wireless (pretty sure this is wireless G??)

Now heres the issue, whenever my cousin comes and connects his laptop to our network (an old sony with wireless G) it causes all of my familys computers to lose our internet connection and he cant get one either. It happens every time without fail.

Now just recently we got a new wireless N network printer. Since we connected this and my brothers laptop (home from college) we seem to randomly have the same error occur whenever a ps3 or xbox is connected...

Now if anyone made it through that confusing wall of text I'm wondering why this occurs. Is it some off settings in the router... just a bad router... too many devices connected (??) ... conflicts with wireless G and wireless N

I'm confused cause my ps3 doesnt usually cause problems but now it seems to out of nowhere.

A couple of questions:

1. Do you have the latest firmware revision installed on this router?

2. If the answer to question 1 is "yes", then do you have security settings enabled in the router's firmware?

What hardware and firmware revision are you at? To find out, go to the router's login page through your preferred browser like the one shown below:

Note, in the upper right corner of the page, you'll see:

Hardware Version: B2 Firmware Version: 2.24

Let me know what rev you've got, and I can provide you further help, as I've worked on several different revs of this router.

Right now, I'm using Rev. B2.

The reason I'm asking is because it'd be easier for me to post picture guides so that you can fix it yourself. Or I can do remote desktop support and help you out that way too. (Though... I hope I'm not breaking any rules by saying that. I DO own a tech support company that uses remote desktop software to offer support to those who want to watch and learn. But that's an aside.)

ahhhh no i dont have the latest firmware : / i suppose i should remedy that.
