I am trying to find the best way to remote into my PCs at home. Remote Desktop seems like the best choice, but sometimes I forget to log off of the a computer I'm trying to connect into and I''m not near it to log it all manually, so I have to wait 30 seconds for it to auto-boot he signed on user out.

Is there a way to shorten the time it takes to auto-boot or is there a way to make it boot the user instantly?

I have both a Win Vista machine and a Win 7 machine.

Try LogMeIn Free. Better than RDP (imo). No need to worry about Windows login because it doesn't use the Windows login. The computer remains logged in at all times. You only login to the LogMeIn service running on the remote desktop. It uses a rendezvous server and NAT traversal, so need to open or manage ports (more secure!), locate your public IP, deal w/ DDNS, etc. Easy.
