Okay, so here is the set up:

Time Warner Road Runner Turbo:

Linksys WRT300N router with DDWRT loaded. Using open DNS. Win7 pro on a super beefy machine. uTorrent 1.8.5.

Here are my settings for speed in uTorrent:

I haven't recently updated uTorrent or done anything else on my machine. I have notice that over the past 3-4 days, if uTorrent is up browsing is ridiculously slow, and sometimes I get a "cannot find server" message. Power cycling everything doesn't change anything.

Running AVG and keep it up to date.

Any thoughts? I should be able to pull 1 Mbps down from uTorrent without trouble. Best I have been able to get is 600k (which is still fast) but my connection should support more than that.

I would set your upload slots to 5 and then limit each slot to 10kbps. With 25 slots, your router is so busy serving those, you yourself are having a hard time getting into the traffic lane to get your requests for pages sent up. If you're not using a private torrent server that requires you to upload, you can even turn off the uploads altogether. Personally, I leave one slot on at 10kbps when using public torrents.

I could try that. Usually hitting re-try in Firefox gets the page to go through but again it is slow and not everything loads. This is a recent thing though. Maybe I should try resetting the router to the defaults. I might have messed with the connection settings (but I doubt it). I for sure haven't changed anything since it worked before.

I would blame packet shaping, but my torrent speeds seem fine.

Mostly private trackers though, and I like keeping my ratio high.

I will have to research it some more. I have seen people make note that a NOD32 update has affected it, but I don't think that is the case. I have tried killing AVG too...

I am starting to think it is related to number of connections overwhelming the router? I will have to try it without the router plugged in to see if it makes a difference. I actually had an issue where my router was blocking 40% of my bandwidth a while back...

Might be in the market for a new router... but to be honest I'd rather not spend $$ on it if I don't need to.

My last attempt at setting up a router PC was a failure.
