In addition to this
thread I have been having some issues with my network at home. I am not sure if a new router is the answer just yet... but I am considering it.
My router (WRT300N) has been rock solid with DD-WRT on it for about a year. Lately I have had some issues where I randomly can't connect to XBox Live and/or the Xbox cannot see the WMC pc.
This could be Xbox related but rebooting the Xbox doesn't seem to help, at least by itself. Rebooting the router is a sure fix.
I have also had issues with the uPnP working properly (if at all). I have only been able to get "Open NAT" by manually setting the port forwarding settings. We are going to be adding another Xbox in the near future and I'd like both to work with Open NAT if possible. Getting another internet connection is not possible.
I'd also like to get my head around packet shaping / priority. I am considering downgrading from a 15Mbit connection to a 7Mbit connection to save ~ $10-15 per month. I need to be able to ensure that the Xbox(es) get priority in this case because the pipe is smaller.
That said, any suggestions? I am at work so I can't browse anything gaming related specifically.
