Eh, what the heck. I have a spare PCI-e slot and my onboard NIC is mediocre.

Good find since I bet your NIC is driven by Realtek or Marvell, right? Real men only buy Intel NIC.

Sorry for not meeting your standards for manliness.
I'm seeing a genuine increase in network throughput, but nothing too significant. I haven't had adequate gaming time to see if there's any appreciable effect on it. It has made Skype behave a bit weird though, the sound seems all distorted. I may have to start using a headset in the dedicated USB jack on the back of the card instead.
Torrents and general download speeds are better. It's probably not enough of an increase to justify paying full price for the card though.

I think that was the general consensus of the Killer NIC: it works, but it's too expensive for most people to care.

I got it off geeks.com a few years back for under $30. I'd say it's easily worth that.
