Between here, Network Nook, Windows Parlor and Multimedia Madhouse I just guessed this would be the best place to post. If not, please move the post.

Anywho, I'm looking for cheap, or preferably free software that can take either still snapshots or short video clips at regulated intervals then e-mail them through SMTP as attachments.

Anyone know of such software?

The main reason I'm asking is I'm getting a wifi webcam for the baby's room, and when I can't VPN into the home network, I'd like to be able to at least see some small video clips or still shots.

I would have recommended Dorgem, but it's discontinued. Hopefully the source will be used in a better program. However, it's still up for download if you want to try it.

What webcam is it? Logitech has some pretty decent software come with their webcams. I used it with the motion-detector setting to shoot some footage of my neighbor's damn cat jumping a fence and shitting all over my back yard when I was away.

Haven't bought the camera yet.

Recommending Logitech?

The only problem I have is the last time I bought some of their webcams, the software/drivers disappeared REALLY quick. :(

Really? I haven't seen any disappear. Someone gave me a 640x480 camera back in 2005, and it was probably 3 years old at that time, and I just found it in a drawer with no software a year or two back, but I went to the web site, clicked on towards this place, and quickly found the software.

Only caveat is that anything that old has no Vista support, only XP, but their newer models do.

I can't actually recommend a brand as that's the only web cam I've even owned, and only used it once in a blue moon on Skype.

Actually looks moot one way or another due to the fact they don't have any wireless cameras in my price range.

Oh well.

I'll make sure to find reviews before I order. Just need to get it ordered this weekend. The baby is coming on the 28th.

What's the price range, and how many cameras do you want? Just one?

Around $100.

If it can't do what I'm looking for, it's alright.

I have a Router with a built in VPN server, so I can install the software on my in-law's PC so they can log in and view the feed live.
