I am beta testing for a agme called wish2 and they are only offering the file through fileplanet. And apparently there is so much load on there servers, i have to wait 250minutes for it to me my turn. It's completly rediculus. Right now there are only 414 people in line. It would seem that they could let most of them go at the same time. I am not shure how big the file is but it is pissing me off.

If that's the only source that the file is available from, you should be happy that there's fileplanet.

I agree. FilePlanet sucks, unless you're a member.

In my expierence this is always the case, not being a member usualy guarentees you a shitty expiernece and almost always no one to talk to about your problem(what ever that may be.) Unless your paying for it they(fileplanet) just dosen't give a damn.

I'd like to know how much bandwidth that server actually has.

not that this has anything to do with file planet*
I've downloaded demos from www.gamershell.com 4 at a time and they were like 400 mbs each. with no wait time, such is the benefit of peer to peer networks(when I still had my cable* cries uncontrolably* sniff....

well if you try to download the files between 4-9 am eastern there rarely is a wait or a long one. usually just minutes if any. but i became a member so i could beta test some of the games and get my files when i wanted. the basic plan is pretty reasonable. but i understand everyone wants it for free.

whoops i just noticed how old this post was. i figured since it was on the first page it was still active. this forum has so much less traffic then when i used to visit all the time.

wow be glad theres a place even offering files for free. i remember in early 2000 watching all kinds of free servers and stuff shutting down cause it costs too much to run for free. shitty service or not the key word is free.(remember when the internet was full of free stuff?)

You just figured out FIeplanet sucks? Welcome to the club. A better model for distribution in this case would be bittorrent. BUt then again, file planet doesn't care if it gets distributed efficiently, they care about people signing up to their site paying for faster download service. It's a ripoff.

You can fight this rip off by creating a torrent tracker for the file (once you have downloaded it) and upload the tracker to a bittorrent site.

fileshack is better! they have maximum 15 minutes (for each patch for every single game, COD, COD:UO, MOHAA, BFV) ive had actually 3 minutes wait on each patch
downloads capped at 200kb/s but with trusty K-Get (or your local download manager) itll go by at 400-500 kb/s even tho they say *DONT USE A DOWNLOAD MANAGER*

oh, and KKith- Where do you go to get your Torrents? (game demos, linux distros, other legal downloads) cuz my two favorite sites suprnova and lokitorrent were shut down because the MPAA is walking around going HEIL YOU CANT HAVE THIS!!!
